Inside Noto

See the app — not just a promise.

Notes, your personal dashboard, and focus mode — the same calm workspace you get after sign-in.

A page that feels like paper

Notebooks on the left, your note on the right — ruled or Cornell paper, tables, links, and calm typography.

A page that feels like paper

Why Noto

Everything you need to think on the page — nothing you don't.

Notebooks, not databases

A simple structure — notebooks and notes — built for writing. Pin, sort, and resume where you left off.

Rich pages

Headings, tasks, highlights, images, PDF embeds, and tables with tabs, filters, and special columns. A calm floating toolbar keeps the page clean; turn on the full toolbar in Settings when you want every control visible.

Writing proofreading

Inline proofreading in the editor. Plus: choose LanguageTool (900/mo) or OpenAI (300/mo, includes Rewrite with AI). Presets include English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and Polish, plus more via Other. Free tier can proofread with your own API key.

Command palette

Jump between notes, check writing, toggle focus, and reach actions from the keyboard — less hunting through menus.

Focus mode

Hide the chrome and write. Alt+Shift+F toggles focus mode when you need fewer distractions.

Personal dashboard

Weather, clock, RSS, quotes, scratch pad, roadmap, and a month calendar with public holidays — drag tiles to fit your day.

Calendar that plans with you

Click any day for details, roadmap phases on the grid, and holidays for your country. Jump to today, start a note, or add to scratch.

Versions & export

Snapshots of your work, plus HTML and Markdown export so notes are never trapped.

Security built in

Email + password, optional 2FA, password-protected notes, and legal copy you can actually read.

Paper templates

Ruled, Cornell, dot grid, graph, or aged paper per note — lines aligned to your text, plus backgrounds. Calm and Productivity workspace themes, with six color moods on Calm.

Productivity workspace

Switch to the Productivity theme for a persistent outline, note metadata, expandable library folders (notes nested inside each notebook), tip and warning callouts, and richer attachment cards — while Calm stays minimal for deep writing.

Help when you need it

Built-in tips in Notes and the dashboard, a full guide dialog, and keyboard shortcuts — no hunting through docs to get started.

Interface in your language

Choose from ten interface languages — English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Polish, and Persian — for menus and system messages, independently of the language you write in or proofread.

Editor

A page that feels like paper — with power when you need it.

Noto is built on a modern rich-text engine tuned for longform: comfortable typography, ruled lines that stay aligned with your text, and pro tools that stay out of the way until you select a table, divider, or tabbed block.

Security

Trust you can verify — not just claim.

Noto is built for people who keep real work in their notes. Security posture, legal copy, and export tools are first-class — because longevity matters as much as features.

TLS everywhere

Encrypted in transit. Production databases use TLS with explicit sslmode.

Two-factor authentication

TOTP authenticator or email OTP — your choice in settings.

Password-protected notes

Optional per-note encryption in the browser. Your passphrase never leaves your session.

Transparent policies

Versioned Terms and Privacy. You re-accept when material changes.

Themes

Calm for writing, Productivity for structure.

Common questions

What happens if I cancel Plus?
Your notes and notebooks stay. Plus features turn off at the end of the billing period. If you have more than 50 MB of attachments, we keep the extra files for 45 days (14 days if you never paid), then delete down to the Free limit so we are not hosting gigabytes for free.
Can I export my work?
Yes. Export each note as HTML or Markdown from the editor. Delete your account anytime in Settings if you want everything removed.
Is there a community or wiki?
Not yet. Help is built into the app. Plus subscribers can email support on a best-effort basis (typically 3–5 business days).
Do you train AI on my notes?
No. Bundled AI (Plus) sends only what you explicitly submit for an action to the configured provider. Free tier can use bring-your-own API keys.
Which languages does writing proofreading support?
Plus includes inline proofreading: pick LanguageTool (900 checks/mo) or OpenAI (300 checks/mo, includes Rewrite with AI) — you choose in Settings. Preset languages in Settings: English, Dutch, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and Polish. Auto-detect and Other are supported — Other accepts additional LanguageTool locales (e.g. Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic). Free accounts can use the same language presets with bring-your-own API keys.
